Remember, Remember, the 5th of November

November 5th, 2011 was Bank Transfer Day. This was the target date for concerned activists to move our money out of global banks.
In the weeks leading up to Bank Transfer Day 650,000 people left the big banks to move their accounts to credit unions. They took $4.3 billion dollars out of the global banks and put them into member-owned credit unions.
The 99% has sent a clear message to the big banks who will ALWAYS remember the 5th of November!
Cooperative Federal is a community development credit union serving Syracuse, NY. Founded in 1982 by activists seeking an alternative to fat-cat corporate bankers, we are a non-profit, financial service cooperative dedicated to fairness, equality, and social & economic justice.
When you do your banking with Cooperative Federal, you're making the decision to support these values, too. We keep our members' money LOCAL (not on Wall Street), helping to strengthen our neighborhoods and build a fair, independent local economy. Our members own the credit union in equal shares -- we have no other owners -- and anyone can become a member/owner.
