In 2015, Cooperative Federal was awarded second place in a city-wide oppotunity to fund projects that "enliven Syracuse." Coop Fed was recognized for our outstanding In-School Savings Branches, a program that brings lessons about saving and money management outside of the classroom, allowing students to learn financial education on their own terms.
Cooperative Federal was awarded first place for "Acts of Valor for Members in Distress." As part of a national contest, "heros" were honored for helping members through finanical distress and giving them the tools to "help themselves" in the future.
In 2014 Cooperative Federal received the International Humanitarian of the Year Award in recognition of Exemplary Leadership and Contribution to Global Citizenship. Each year, ICS awards this to a "non-profit organization that provides assistance to the area's nearly 800 refugees that arrive each and every year."
Credit Union Association of New York In 2012, Cooperative Federal was recognized with this prestigious award created in honor of Louise Herring, a pioneer in the early credit union movement in the United States. Cooperative Federal received first place in both the state and national asset building category for our Matched Savings Program.

The awards, announced at the 2008 Opportunity Finance Network (OFN) Conference in Albuquerque, New Mexico, are among the most prestigious awards for responsible lending in the U.S.
The NYS Rehabilitation Association awarded this honor to the Syracuse City School District, for the third consecutive year, for the Life Skills Program. Cooperative Federal is a lead partner and co-creator in that project.
