Avoiding Bounced Checks

In the past we have cleared checks when a member does not have quite enough money in their account – only if this would bring the account negative by $50.00 or less.

As of July 15, 2010 we will end this practice, and we will only clear checks if enough money is in the account.

We do still offer Courtesy Call & Account Alerts services to save you from the fees and embarrassment of bouncing a check:

Courtesy Call. If a check that you wrote comes in and there’s not enough money in your account to cover it, we will call you to let you know so that you can make a deposit. There is a $22 fee for this call, which can save you from the returned check fee from the credit union, and the fee that would be charged by the merchant to which you wrote the check.

Alerts set up through our Web Teller. An example of an alert is to have an email or text message sent to you when your balance goes below a certain dollar amount.
