The Credit Union is closed on Thursday, May 1, International Workers Day.
La Cooperativa está cerrada jueves, el 1ro de Mayo, para el Día Internacional del Trabajador.
May Day, May 1, is International Workers Day. This credit union may be the only financial institution in the U.S. to close for May Day, but we're not alone. Thousands of credit unions around the world will be closed for May Day, and for good reason. Credit Unions are part of the movement to empower ordinary people. It is this movement that May Day celebrates.

Tired of giving useless gifts, year after year? Especially during tough economic times, choose a gift that really counts -- a Financial Advising Gift Certificate.
Your friends and loved ones can meet one-on-one with a Cooperative Federal financial advisor, to discuss goals such as homeownership, starting a small business, credit building, debt consolidation, and more.
Cooperative Federal's offices will be closed on Monday, October 13th in observance of Indigenous Peoples Day.
Why does the credit union close for Indigenous Peoples Day?
Cooperative Federal traditionally observes Indigenous Peoples Day instead of Columbus Day. It's an alternative holiday that coincides with Columbus Day, in protest to the legacy of genocide, colonization and displacement of Native peoples by European explorers.
Cooperative Federal provides low- and moderate-income members with opportunities to build assets and achieve financial goals, using "Individual Development Accounts," or "IDAs." We offer IDA for 4 different purposes:
- First-Time Homebuyer IDA: Up to $9,500 in downpayment and closing cost assistance for people who are buying a home for the first time, or who have not owned a home in the last 3 years.
- Small Business IDA: Up to $2,000 in grants for working capital to help start or expand a small business.
Cooperative Federal won the 2010 Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Award from the Credit Union Association of New York State, and won the 2nd place nationwide award from the Credit Union National Association.
We were nominated by the CNY Chapter of Credit Unions, in recognition of our services that help individuals left behind by big banks.
We were given the award based on the success of three main programs:
