Hands-On Learning for Kids & Teens
Kids & Teens
By encouraging young people to practice saving and money management skills from an early age, Cooperative Federal helps to prepare the next generation for a lifetime of confidence and financial strength.
Here are the accounts we offer for youth.
Young adults under the age of 18 can get a regular savings account, but with a few special rules to make it easier to get started:
A parent or guardian cosigner is not required for teenage members to open a savings account. Direct deposit can be used with savings accounts, and we also have reloadable, pre-paid VISA cards.
To get a checking account, a parent or guardian must be a joint owner on the account.
Young people age 14 and under can open Treehouse Saver Accounts. These accounts have the simplest ID requirements, and earn dividends starting at a lower balance than regular savings. Read more about Treehouse Savers.
Accounts at Cooperative Federal are federally insured by the National Credit Union Administration (NCUA), a government agency, to at least $250,000 and backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Government.
