This position is through the Americorps Economic Mobility Corp., and is similar to a paid internship. We're seeking an enthusiastic person to join our outreach team for 3-4 months, 26 to 35 hours per week.

Who We Are
Cooperative Federal is more than an ordinary credit union. Founded by local organizers and activists in 1982, we are a mission-driven, community-owned nonprofit focused on social and economic justice. Cooperative Federal’s mission is to foster social equity and economic justice in Syracuse, NY by connecting all people with capital and banking services - especially in communities that have been unjustly excluded from wealth.

What You Will Do
As the Outreach and Engagement Specialist, you will help expand access to financial services and pathways to homeownership by conducting neighborhood engagement activities like tabling at community events, organizing member appreciation events, creating education and outreach content, cultivating relationships with community partners, creating an online member business directory, studying issues of walkability and accessibility surrounding branch locations, and developing a new process for engaging Field of Membership organizations.

When You Serve with Us
• Earn a $9,000 stipend for serving 450 hours, payable by bimonthly direct deposit (this comes out to $20/hr).
• Earn an additional $1,824 education benefit to pay down qualifying student loan debt or to continue your education.
• Receive Credit As An Asset and CDFI 101 certification.
• Receive ongoing coaching, mentorship, and professional development.

What Your Work Environment Will Be
This is a 3 to 4 month position where you will typically serve between Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends. An exact schedule will be determined upon selection. You will report in person at our office and will be required to travel locally for meetings and community events.
