Accounts for Kids and Teens

Start early, start strong. Children and young adults can open special accounts at Cooperative Federal - helping them become savvy savers with real-world banking experience skills.

Teach financial wellness early with Treehouse Accounts, available to children under age 14. Our Treehouse Saver accounts have the same rates, terms, and deposit and withdrawal privileges as basic savings but with dividends earned on balances of just $5 or more.

Here's what you’ll need to open a Treehouse Account:

  • $5 for the minimum deposit plus $2 for the New Member Fee (waived if you open your account online).
  • Children 10 and under must have a parent or guardian as a joint owner on the account and will need a birth certificate and Social Security or ITIN card. Parents/guardians must have a valid, government-issued photo ID and Social Security or ITIN number.
  • Children over the age of 10 can open accounts on their own. They need to have a birth certificate and Social Security or ITIN card.

Teens aged 14 and above can get real-life banking experience by opening their own YouThrive Savings Accounts.

Students aged 16 to 24 who are enrolled in eligible youth programs can also open YouThrive Checking Accounts, including a VISA Debit Card.

Here’s what you need to open a YouThrive Student Account:
